New Year, New Mercies

“The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning: great is your faithfulness.”   Lam 3:22-23

At the beginning of every year, people will set goals, to either improve their health, lifestyle, or career path. They may pick up new hobbies or interests looking for fulfilment. The bible tells us however, that each day is a new day. We don’t need to wait for a certain date or year. Each morning is a new opportunity to reflect on God’s work in your life. Every morning, we wake up, we can move in a direction that draws us closer to God.

There are communities along the Alaskan Highway between Fort St. John and Fort Nelson that have a small group of believers who are seeking God to help fight the hopelessness and depression that is affecting so many of their members. These communities don’t have churches or spiritual support and reached out to Christian ministries seeking help. Crossroads was the only one to respond. In the past, Beverly Hadland, our former First Peoples Ambassador, would lead a small team of believers to visit some of these communities. Bev graciously offered her time as a volunteer to come back and lead two trips this year. The purpose of these trips is to help the Christians grow in their prayer life and faith in God for their people. The latest trip was this past October when Bev, along with Kathy Leduc (Quebec), Corinne Walinder and Ken Sorenson (British Columbia) met up with Sandra Apsassin from Blueberry River and Della Owens from Moberly First Nation B.C.

Bev always returns with stories of how God in his great faithfulness shows up in love, breaking down barriers and building relationships. This past trip was no different. When the team first arrived, they received a message they were no longer welcome to visit one community. The team began to pray and asked others to join. Within 24 hours, they were told they could visit. Praise Jesus!

From Bev: “We could see the transformation of some of these people after our prayers. Individuals requesting prayer, opened up, exposing deep wounds and addictions, confessing sins and repenting, ushering in healing and joy. Afterwards, they would ask for prayers for their loved ones. It was such a beautiful thing to be a part of. The spiritual strength of the team and knowledge of spiritual warfare helped break chains that have held these communities’ captive for decades. The faithfulness of our visits to simply come with God’s message of love and prayer has had an incredible impact. Three communities are planning on beginning their own prayer groups. We praise God for victory in the power of prayer!”

God has called all of us to serve Him in some way, to help usher in His kingdom on earth, and we continue to thank those who support Crossroads’ FPV. You are helping to transform lives. Please continue to keep our First Peoples in your prayers. God is at work.
