Christmas Blessings to First Peoples

Christmas is fast approaching, and as it does, many emotions begin to rise. For some, it is a time of great joy, family gatherings, fond memories, and love shared. It brings excitement and anticipation. For many others, however, Christmas may be a time of anxiety, hurt, and loneliness. Not something to look forward to but instead, something to dread. Especially for those who are experiencing homelessness, addiction, or depression.

And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ Mark 12:30-31

First Peoples Voices is honored to be partnered with people who embody what it means to love on their neighbors, especially at Christmas. While most of us are focusing on gifts and meals for our own families, we have Champions who are arranging turkey dinners for 800+ people, food hampers for impoverished families and winter items for people who are living on the streets.

We need your financial help to share the love of Jesus this winter season. High food prices are affecting everyone and for parents who are struggling, a basket of food can provide a special Christmas meal. Your support will also provide warm clothing during the winter months and enable people to come off the streets and receive a hot meal. Children will receive a gift, allowing them to participate in the excitement and joy of the season. Please go to crossroads.ca/fpv to join us in letting these communities know they are loved.

Once again, Christmas shipments will be sent to Indigenous communities filled with Christian books, Bibles, and other items to bless and encourage people in their faith.

Crossroads also continues to tell the stories of indigenous people on “100 Huntley Street”, to educate and inspire Canadians about their journeys. Be sure to check out Pastor Norm Stinson’s interview as he reflects on the loss of his father in the war.

We will also send an update soon from Beverly Hadland about her recent trip along the Alaskan Highway ministering to communities.

We so appreciate your prayers and commitment to Canada’s First Peoples, and we pray you experience God’s Peace, Hope, Love and Joy this Christmas season.
