Venezuela Earthquake Response Update
On June 24, 2026, twin earthquakes measuring 7.2 and 7.5 struck north-central Venezuela, leaving thousands dead, tens of thousands missing, and entire communities without power, communications, or access to essential services. With roads, hospitals, and critical infrastructure severely damaged, the need for emergency relief was immediate.
In response, Crossroads Cares supporters gave more than $91,000 to support emergency relief through our partners and churches on the ground. With eligible donations matched by the Government of Canada during the weeks it was available, the impact of many of those gifts was doubled, helping extend food, shelter, essential supplies, and compassionate care to more families affected by the earthquakes.
As part of the broader response led by our partners and churches on the ground:
- 1,200+ hot meals were served during the first five days.
- Seven feeding and distribution centres were established in some of the hardest-hit communities.
- 400+ meals are now being served every day.
- 60 displaced families received emergency shelter supplies, including bedding, sleeping mats, privacy partitions, and other essential items.
- Families continue to receive hygiene kits, clothing, over-the-counter medications, and emotional, spiritual, and psychosocial support through local churches and community response centres.
Recovery will take months, but thanks to the compassion of Crossroads Cares supporters, our partners and churches on the ground continue to bring practical relief and the hope of Christ to families as they begin the long journey of rebuilding their lives.
