Unshakeable Hope When the World Is Shaking

Watch. Pray. Stand Steady.

It’s hard not to feel the weight of the headlines right now.

Conflicts are intensifying. Leadership is shifting. The world feels unsettled. Even when events are happening far away, the uncertainty can still touch our hearts.

Kevin Shepherd, CEO of Crossroads and YES TV affirms, “It’s right that we care. Scripture calls us to pray for peace and to stand with those living in conflict. If this were happening in our own cities, we would hope believers around the world were praying for us.

But in a world where every alert and notification competes for our attention, we are reminded of something important:

We stay informed enough to care and anchored enough to hope.”

Jesus understood seasons like this.

When His disciples asked about the future, He told them plainly:

“You will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not alarmed.” — Matthew 24:6

He did not pretend upheaval wouldn’t come. He prepared them for it. And He gave them a simple posture:

“Therefore keep watch…” — Matthew 24:42

“Watch and pray.” — Matthew 26:41

Not watch in fear. Not analyze endlessly. But remain spiritually awake — and pray.

This is how the Church has always lived when the world feels unstable. And it is how we live today.

Ten Scriptures to Steady Your Heart

Return to these today — and in the days ahead.

1. Matthew 24:6 “You will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not alarmed.”

2. John 14:27 “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you… Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”

3. Psalm 112:6–7 “Surely the righteous will never be shaken… They will have no fear of bad news; their hearts are steadfast, trusting in the Lord.”

4. Isaiah 26:3 “You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.”

5. Psalm 46:1–2 “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.”

6. Hebrews 12:28 “We are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken.”

7. Philippians 4:6–7 “Do not be anxious… but in everything, by prayer… the peace of God… will guard your hearts.”

8. 2 Chronicles 7:14 “If my people… will humble themselves and pray…” A timeless call to humility — not a political statement, but a posture of the heart.

9. Matthew 26:41 “Watch and pray…”

10. Revelation 21:4 “He will wipe every tear… There will be no more death or pain.”

The last word belongs to God. It always has.

How We Respond

In moments like this, we pray for leaders — for wisdom, humility, and restraint.

We pray for peace — for de-escalation and the protection of families.

We pray for our brothers and sisters in Christ around the world — for courage, endurance, and steady faith.

And we watch and pray — trusting that history is not outside God’s hands.

The world may feel unsettled.

But Christ is not shaken.

And because He is steady, our hope can be too.
