Royal Anthems Releases New Worship Anthem “Great Is the Lord” – A Song for Every Generation
Crossroads’ Royal Anthems Project is set to release a powerful new worship single, “Great Is the Lord,” on March 7, 2025. This uplifting anthem, written by Dallas Wigston, Luke Stones, and Trevor Robert, captures the heart of generational worship, celebrating the faithfulness of God across time.
Featuring vocals by Dallas Wigston and Hope Wigston, the song is a bold declaration of the worthiness of our King and a reminder that one generation sings to the next of His enduring love and faithfulness.
A Song for the Multi-Generational Church
Inspired by Psalm 145, “Great Is the Lord” emphasizes the timeless nature of worship and the importance of passing down faith through generations:
“One generation sings to the next… Great is Your love and faithfulness.”
“I believe this is a timely song for a 4-generation church that is trying to be relevant to multiple generations,” says Matthew Grieve, project partner. “It’s a reminder that God is faithful yesterday, today, and forever.”
A Collaboration of Canadian Worship Leaders
“Great Is the Lord” brings together some of Canada’s most passionate worship musicians, including:
- Luis Vargas – Keys
- Michael Murad – Bass
- Darius McKoy & Trevor Robert – Electric Guitar
- Jessie Boland – Drums
The song was produced by Trevor Robert, Joel Auge, and Luis Vargas, with mixing by Brandon Vandendool and mastering by Joel Auge.
The Story Behind the Song
“This was the first songwriting session of the Thursday,” recalls Trevor Robert. “I specifically remember there was a ping-pong table in the room, and I was tempted to play. But instead, we wrote this song— and I’m so glad we did.”
Luke Stones explains: “This is a song of praise, giving to God what He is worthy of. The inspiration came from Dallas responding to a moment of corporate worship that morning. I love that this song came from a genuine place of worship, not just intentionally looking for a song hook.”
Dallas adds, “Some songs come easily, and some take a bit more work—this one was a grind! But it paints such a powerful picture of the church joining in a song that has already been sung since the beginning of creation.”
A Call to Worship for Canada
For Trevor Robert, this release is more than just a song—it’s part of a national movement.
“God is doing something through worship in Canada, and I believe it’s crucial to link arms with the next generation of worshipers and disciple them,” Trevor shares. “There are plenty of opportunities to teach skills, but not enough to truly disciple young leaders to love Jesus more than the stage they worship on.”
Matthew Grieve, who interviewed the writers, highlighted that all three are husbands and fathers—and their heartfelt lyrics come from a genuine desire for their own children to know God’s faithfulness just as they and their parents before them have.
When asked where this song fits in the Canadian Church today, Luke Stones responded:
“What I love about this song is that it’s straight from the Word of God. It puts Scripture in the mouth of His people. I believe it’s simple, powerful, and timely for the Church today.”
