Royal Anthems Debuts “Only You:” An Anthem for Personal Devotion in Canadian Churches

Burlington, ON, October 25, 2024 — Royal Anthems, a national worship initiative by Crossroads, is excited to announce the release of their fifth single, Only You,” set to release on Friday, October 25, 2024. This heartfelt worship song is a collaborative effort from three talented songwriters based in Ontario, Canada: Nathan Kirschner from Selwyn Outreach Centre in Peterborough, Katrina Robert from Stouffville, and Brandon Beckman from Hope Bible Church in Oakville.

Reflecting on Royal Anthems’ mission to unite the Church in Canada through worship, Katrina shares, “We can’t expect the Lord to do something nationally if we’re not doing the things personally. I pray that our lives reflect our desire to genuinely seek Him every day.”

The song embodies the essence of worship, expressing a deep longing for the presence of God. “Only You” emerged during a moment of collaborative songwriting, where the writers engaged in heartfelt discussions about their desires for personal and communal encounters with God. Nathan describes this process, stating, “It’s important for us to seek His face before we seek His hand. We need to be in a posture of waiting and yearning for Him.”

Brandon Beckman, who co-wrote the song and serves at Hope Bible Church in Oakville, recalls a special moment during the recording process: “As we sang the simple yet profound chorus—‘We just want You, Lord’—there was an overwhelming sense of unity. It felt like the whole room was in sync, not just with each other but with God’s Spirit. It was a powerful moment of worship, one that we hope will resonate across Canadian churches.”

Matthew Grieve, a project partner of the Royal Anthems team, reflects on the profound experience during the writing process, noting the “intimacy” felt while performing the song, with the chorus resonating deeply within the hearts of the singers and the congregation alike. “The melody is so very singable; it’s like this song has always been stamped on our hearts,” he remarks.

The song’s message is especially timely, as it calls for a deeper connection with God amid the challenges facing the world today. Brandon emphasizes the urgency of personal spiritual practices, reminding us, “We can’t expect the Lord to do something nationally if we’re not doing our part to sit with the Lord, to be with the Lord, to wait on the Lord in our own lives.”

“Only You” is set to inspire and uplift congregations across Canada as part of Royal Anthems’ mission to create worship music that reflects the nation’s cultural diversity and unifies the Canadian Church.

The release follows Royal Anthems’ previous successful singles, including “Thank You,” “Good, Good Day,” “Be Enthroned,” and “How Great The Love.” Royal Anthems is committed to producing more worship songs that resonate with believers across the country.
