The fires, which have claimed at least twenty-four lives and forced 105,000 residents to evacuate, have created unprecedented demand for the Canadian prayer ministry’s services. California residents placed over 32,000 calls to the Prayer Centre in 2024, representing 17% of all U.S. calls.
In the past week alone, the urgency of this mission has been made clear:
- Emergency Calls from California: We’ve received calls from individuals experiencing fear, loss, and uncertainty amid the wildfires. One caller shared the heartache of disrupted communication, while another reported hospital evacuations and devastating fatalities.
- Praise Report: Elizabeth, one of our dedicated Prayer Partners, shared an incredible testimony of God’s protection during the wildfires. Her brother, a celebrated film composer living in Altadena, was able to return to his neighborhood, which had been devastated by the fires. Remarkably, while much of the area was razed, his rented house remained standing. He was able to safely enter and retrieve his belongings.
- Volunteer Dedication: Connie, a Prayer Partner based in California, is unwavering in her commitment to serving others, even as she personally navigates the challenges of staying connected during the wildfires.
