CG/Media Technician

CG/Media Technician
Purpose of position
The ideal candidate combines technical proficiency, creative design capabilities, strong organizational skills, and the ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced broadcast environment.
Position Summary
This role plays an important part in supporting content creators through technical expertise, media organization, broadcast graphics creation, and production support to ensure high-quality content delivery across multiple platforms.
Responsibilities
- Support the Production team with a multi-faceted range of technical, creative, and operational tasks.
- Facilitate the development and implementation of on-air graphics, including building, animating, and refining CG elements for broadcast use.
- Facilitate structured media management processes, including the organization, storage, archiving, and retrieval of production media across shared storage systems and asset management platforms.
Specific Job Duties:
- Assist with setup, testing, troubleshooting, and execution of character generator (CG) related equipment and workflows
- Collaborate daily with the Director of Production to coordinate production requirements and priorities
- Screen interviews and prepare time cue sheets related to graphics requirements
- Support live and recorded productions while maintaining broadcast quality standards
- Develop, build, animate, and refine on-air graphics and CG elements for broadcast use
- Create and maintain graphic packages including:
- Name keys
- Website keys
- Promotional and event graphics
- Topic and point graphics
- Descriptive lower thirds
- Scripture graphics
- Monthly offers and promotional materials
- Source and create visuals for production and broadcast requirements
- Research guest information and import graphic data into CG software systems
- Export graphic elements to support post-production workflows
- Develop visual logic and transitions for broadcast graphics packages
- Organize and maintain physical and digital media assets across multiple storage environments
- Manage media storage systems including shared servers, cloud platforms, and asset management systems
- Maintain file naming conventions, metadata standards, folder structures, and archival processes
- Support media ingest, transfer, backup, retrieval, and archive workflows
- Assist with digitization and organization of legacy media assets and tape libraries
- Identify opportunities to improve media management workflows and operational efficiencies
- Other duties as required
Qualifications and experience
- Completion of a recognized Television Broadcasting program or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 1–2 years’ experience working in broadcast production environment as a CG Operator or similar role in a studio or control room environment
- Experience working with CG software, specifically Xpression
- Proficiency using:
- Microsoft Word
- Microsoft Excel
- Microsoft Outlook
- Google Workspace applications
- Adobe Photoshop
- Strong understanding of media workflows, broadcast operations, and digital asset management systems
