A Medal of Honour: Recognizing God’s Work Through Crossroads in Ukraine

Recently, Dennis Scraba, a dedicated ministry partner with the Lviv Theological Seminary in Ukraine, brought an extraordinary piece of news to Crossroads. On his latest trip to Ukraine, Dennis was entrusted with a special mission. Colonel Sasha presented him with a Medal of Honour to be delivered to Crossroads on behalf of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the Government of Ukraine, and the brave individuals on the front lines.

This Medal of Honour is more than a token of gratitude; it’s a testament to God’s work through the faithful generosity of our donors and the relentless efforts of those risking their lives to bring hope to a war-torn nation. We are humbled to play a small role in God’s plan to provide care and restoration in Ukraine during these challenging times.

A Legacy of Compassion and Care

Thanks to the unwavering support of our compassionate donors, Crossroads has provided over $828,000 since the war began in February 2022, impacting more than 137,922 people with essential resources such as food hampers, clothing, blankets, and medical supplies. These efforts are not just meeting physical needs—they are offering the hope and love of Christ to those in the most desperate situations.

Our ministry partners have gone above and beyond, ministering to individuals fleeing violence and those enduring attacks in towns on the front lines. Despite immense danger, they continue to serve as the hands and feet of Jesus.

Transforming Lives in Orphanages

The aid doesn’t stop there. With the help of donors, seven state-run orphanages have undergone significant improvements, including drainage systems, lighting, and ventilation for bomb shelters—critical safety measures for children who often go to school underground as they seek refuge during air raids. Additionally, gas heaters, an oven, and windows have been replaced, creating safer and warmer living conditions for the children.

What makes this even more impactful is the regular ministry provided to these orphans. Seminary students visit over 600 children weekly, bringing not only resources but also the love and hope of Christ. These young lives, many of whom have experienced unimaginable trauma, are finding comfort, care, and a sense of belonging.

To God Be the Glory

The Medal of Honour symbolizes the incredible work being done by so many in Ukraine and around the world who are answering God’s call to serve. It’s a reminder of the power of partnership in ministry—how your prayers, donations, and faith in action are making a real difference.

To God be the glory for the lives transformed, the hearts healed, and the hope restored in Ukraine. Together, we press forward, trusting in His plans to bring peace and redemption to a hurting world.

Thank you for your continued support and prayers. May we all be encouraged to keep walking in faith, knowing that no act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted in the Kingdom of God.
