100 Huntley Street Announces Hopeful & Healing in Mental Health Theme Week

January 19–23, 2025 | Special Programming on Faith & Mental Health

BURLINGTON, ON — As Canada continues to navigate a growing mental-health crisis alongside deep spiritual questions, 100 Huntley Street will dedicate a week of programming to compassionate, faith-centred conversations through Hopeful & Healing in Mental Health, airing January 19–23, 2025.

Hosted by Cheryl Weber, with guest co-host Daniel Whitehead of Sanctuary Mental Health Ministries, the week brings trusted voices, biblical encouragement, and lived experience to Canadians who may be struggling.

“Many Canadians feel overwhelmed, unseen, and alone,” says Cheryl Weber. “This week is about reminding viewers that they matter, that faith has a place in mental-health conversations, and that God meets us with compassion in our suffering.”

Why This Matters for Canada

Today, 1 in 5 Canadians lives with a mental illness, and more than a third say their mental-health needs are unmet. Anxiety, loneliness, and despair continue to rise—particularly among young people. Hopeful & Healing in Mental Health speaks into this reality with honesty and care, affirming that faith and mental health are not in conflict, but can walk together on the journey toward wholeness.

Featured Voices This Week

Throughout the week, 100 Huntley Street will feature respected leaders whose work bridges faith, mental health, and compassionate care:

  • Curt Thompson — Psychiatrist, author, and host of the Being Known podcast, sharing insight on shame, healing, and the human longing to be fully known.
  • Kay Warren — Author, international speaker, Bible teacher, and mental-health advocate, offering a deeply personal testimony shaped by love, loss, and faith.
  • John Swinton — Professor of Practical Theology and Pastoral Care, bringing a thoughtful, faith-grounded perspective on suffering, presence, and hope.
  • Rod Wilson — Psychologist, mentor-advisor, and author, exploring how faith communities can care well for emotional and mental health.

Daniel Whitehead will contribute across the week, helping guide conversations that integrate clinical insight, spiritual formation, and practical hope.

A One-Hour Special: A Mother’s Story of Love and Loss

Midweek, 100 Huntley Street will pause for a one-hour special conversation with Kay Warren.

In this extended episode, Lara Watson, Executive Producer and Host of 100 Huntley Street, interviews Kay Warren, who co-founded Saddleback Church in California with her husband, Rick Warren.

Kay speaks openly about walking with her son through years of mental-health struggles, and the grief that followed his death by suicide. She shares as a mother—not with easy answers, but with honesty about love, unanswered prayers, and faith formed in suffering.

This is not a clinical discussion or a roadmap for healing. It is a tender testimony meant to sit alongside those who are grieving or quietly carrying pain—offering reassurance that they are not alone.

The one-hour program will air across both the 9:00 and 9:30 a.m. and p.m. time slots, allowing space for reflection and presence with a story that resonates deeply with many Canadian families.
