For many girls growing up in rural Kenya, life is shaped by deep-rooted gender inequality and harsh economic realities. Dreams of education and independence are often cut short by poverty, leaving them vulnerable to sexual abuse, child labour, prostitution, early pregnancies and forced marriages. Trapped in cycles they didn’t choose, these young girls face a future that feels decided before they’ve even had a chance to begin.

On a recent trip to the Mully Children’s Family Malindi Girls Rescue, Rehabilitation & Training Center, Cheryl Weber, Director of Crossroads Cares was deeply reminded of the profound vulnerability faced by Kenyan girls and is determined to be a part of the change they so desperately need. Cheryl met girls whose stories were both heartbreaking and inspiring, as they shared the hope they’ve found through being a part of the MCF program. They were voices of hope.

MCF’s Centre transforms lives through education, care, and spiritual growth. Its nurturing environment, filled with love, faith, and support, empowers these girls to overcome challenges and build a future full of potential. Vocational training in hairdressing, beauty therapy, fashion design, childcare, and entrepreneurship offers practical skills, while spiritual guidance and trauma counselling helps foster emotional resilience and peace. 

Many of the young women who are rescued come with young babies to care for, longing for a brighter future for both themselves and their children. You can help make that future possible.
