Scott Goobie

It would have been during Pastor Mainse’s time at Bethel Gospel Tabernacle in Hamilton (ON), that a relationship developed with my Dad. As a result, my Dad was often invited as a guest soloist in the mid 1970’s and 1980’s to 100 Huntley Street. I remember as a young boy and into my teens hanging around with my siblings at 100 Huntley Street. It was an experience I will never forget. Pastor Mainse was so full of life, passion and it was evident he loved the Lord and proclaiming the Gospel message. During those visits, I have no doubt he made an impact on me as a young boy. Growing up, my parents and Grandparents (Goobie) often watched 100 Huntley Street. They would have the t.v. on and turned up the volume when someone was singing. Even though I pretended not to be interested nor cared (at that time in my life), I listened to Pastor Mainse and his guests. Now, I can say there was a seed planted within me as a result of his ministry.

In the summer of 1990, my youth group at Bethel Gospel Tabernacle attended Circle Square Ranch. It was there that I had a powerful encounter with Jesus. Gave my heart to the Lord, surrendered to Him and shortly after, decided to go into full-time ministry. God has used men like Pastor Mainse to impact my life even when I did not realize nor recognize it.

I am grateful to the Lord for David Mainse, his life; vision; passion; his ministry and the impact he has had on Ontario; Canada, and the world. There is 100 % no doubt that he has been the greatest evangelist and pioneer in Christian television in Canadian history. I am grateful that Pastor Mainse obeyed the Lord’s call on his life. Although he has gone home to be with the Lord, his legacy and impact will be felt for generations to come.

My sincere condolences to Norma Jean, the family, friends, staff, etc. My prayers are with you and may the Lord comfort each one of you during this time of sorrow.
