Rev. Robert and Ellen Smith
We have had the privilege of watching the development of Crossroads and 100 Huntley Street from it’s earliest days.
Our children used to listen to the Circle Square program and all of the songs on Saturdays. David has been an example and inspiration to us and to our nation over many years. There has never been to our knowledge any hint of anything in his life or ministry that would bring reproach on the name of Jesus or the Christian world. As many have mentioned David was the same away from the camera as he was on the program.
When we were Pastors in Pangman. Sk. in the early 70s
David came through our area to minister and we had him visit us in our home on a couple of occasions. Later, in the early 80s when we were Pastoring in Calgary, David came to our church to get to know Don Wederfort, a helicopter pilot. Don then spent the next couple of years flying in Ethiopia assisting in the famine relief there as Crossroads reached out to starving people.
In 1994 we were in Israel and had the privilege of joining with David’s tour group for a service together at the Garden Tomb which was a real highlight. Our youngest son was Director at Circle Square Ranch at Halkirk. Ab. for a few years and we again had opportunity on occasion to cross paths with David.
Although David is greatly missed, not only by family but also by people all across our country and the world. He leaves behind such a wonderful legacy. In many ways we are poorer but heaven (if it were possible) is now richer.
Our love, prayers and sympathy to all of David’s family as well as all of the Crossroads family.
