A Prayer for Suicidal Thoughts

Heavenly Father,
I come before You, acknowledging You as the Lord God Almighty, my refuge and strength. Your Word declares, “The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge” (Psalm 18:2). I praise You because You are faithful, and You promise to be near to the brokenhearted and to save those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18).

Lord Jesus, I thank You for Your sacrifice and the abundant life You offer. Your Word reminds me, "With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible" (Matthew 19:26). You have said, “Call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify me” (Psalm 50:15). So, I call on You now in my pain and confusion, trusting in Your power to deliver.

In Your name, Jesus, I rebuke every lie of hopelessness and despair. I reject and renounce any agreement I have made, knowingly or unknowingly, with death or the grave. Your Word promises, “You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in You” (Isaiah 26:3). Fill me with this perfect peace.

Lord, infuse my heart with Your divine life, light, and love. Break every stronghold of despair and bring healing to the deepest places of my soul. Your Word declares that “the weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds” (2 Corinthians 10:4). I take captive every thought and make it obedient to Christ.

God of hope, I ask You to fill me with all joy and peace in believing, so that I may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit (Romans 15:13). As Your prophet Ezekiel prayed, “Come, breath, from the four winds and breathe into these slain, that they may live” (Ezekiel 37:9). Lord, breathe life into me so I may live to declare Your works, for Your Word says, "I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord" (Psalm 118:17).

By faith in the name of Jesus, I choose life and declare, "In the way of righteousness there is life; along that path is immortality" (Proverbs 12:28). Thank You for never leaving me or forsaking me. I trust in Your unfailing love, and I cling to Your promises. In Jesus' name, Amen.
