Encouragement for Those with PTSD
To anyone living with PTSD, know this: God sees you, values you, and loves you deeply. You are not defined by your trauma, but by the immeasurable worth God has placed on your life. Scripture reminds us in Psalm 34:18: “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” Your pain and struggles are not invisible to Him; He is near and ready to bring healing and restoration.
In the midst of overwhelming emotions and flashbacks, remember that God is your refuge and strength. Psalm 46:1 declares, “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” You are not alone in this battle, and He will never leave or forsake you, as He promises in Deuteronomy 31:8: “The Lord Himself goes before you and will be with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.”
Your value is not diminished by the scars of your past. You were created in God’s image and redeemed by His Son. Isaiah 43:1 says, “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine.” You belong to Him, and He has a plan for your life, one of hope and a future, as stated in Jeremiah 29:11: “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
Lean on these promises as you walk through healing. God’s power is made perfect in weakness, and He can bring beauty from ashes (2 Corinthians 12:9, Isaiah 61:3).
A Prayer for Healing from PTSD
Heavenly Father,
I come before You with an open heart, seeking Your presence in my life each day. Your Word promises in Psalm 34:18: “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” Lord, draw near to me and bring Your saving power into every part of my being.
You are the healer of the brokenhearted, the One who binds up wounds. Psalm 147:3 says, “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” Father, I speak healing and restoration over every wound inflicted upon my life by trauma. Thank You, Jesus, for being my healer and for Your promise of restoration.
Holy Spirit, I ask You to expose the lies of the enemy that have taken root because of my trauma. Transform my mind by the truth of Your Word, as stated in Romans 12:2: “Do not conform to the pattern of this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” Wash me with Your truth and bring every thought and mindset into alignment with Your Word. Let Your truth replaces every lie and set me free.
I declare, as written in Psalm 23:6, “Surely Your goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life.” I trust in Your plans for me, as promised in Jeremiah 29:11: “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
Abba Father, You have not given me a spirit of fear but the Spirit of adoption, allowing me to cry out, “Abba! Father!” as declared in Romans 8:15. Reveal the depth of Your love that casts out all fear. 1 John 4:18 assures me: “There is no fear in love, but perfect love drives out fear.” Let Your love rain down on me, bringing healing to my mind, emotions, will, spirit, and body. Overwhelm me with Your loving presence and healing power.
Psalm 103:11-12 reminds me of the vastness of Your love and forgiveness: “For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is His love for those who fear Him; as far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us.” Thank You for removing my burdens of guilt, shame, and fear and for replacing them with love, peace, and joy.
Through the blood of Jesus, I declare freedom from every chain of fear, anxiety, depression, guilt, and anger. Your Word promises victory through Christ. 1 Corinthians 15:57 says, “But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” I speak wholeness, joy, and thanksgiving over my life, knowing that Your steadfast love will never fail.
Thank You, Father, for the healing You are working in me. I trust in Your power and Your faithfulness. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Closing Encouragement
Healing is a journey, but God is walking with you every step of the way. Lean on Him, meditate on His promises, and trust in His perfect timing. Remember, you are a beloved child of God, deeply valued and immeasurably loved. Let His Word be your anchor and His love your comfort as you continue to heal. Isaiah 41:10 reminds you: “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.”
