IT Generalist


As a hands-on member of the Technology Team, the IT Generalist is responsible for supporting, implementing and managing complex systems and solutions via a broad spectrum of individual hardware and software technologies and platforms in support of our mission.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer or information science
  • Hardware and Software Certifications and Program Certifications from Microsoft, Apple and others (e.g., CCNS, CISSP, MCSE)
  • Minimum of 3-5 years IT support experience within a mid-size organization
  • Experience working in an MS365, Slack, Google Workspace environment
  • Demonstrable experience with IT problem ticket resolution in a high-volume environment.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook/Word/Excel.

The following Experience will be extremely helpful in this role:

  • Familiarity with PHP, SQL, Java Script, C++, Ruby, Node JS, Linux is an asset
  • Completed courses in communications an asset

Areas of Responsibility:

  • Perform administrative and technical procedures on information systems.
  • Maintain IT documentation.
  • Create end user documentation and tips. Contribute to multiple functional areas (systems design, systems and network administration, routine IT-related website maintenance, programmer/analyst, information technology support, and end-user application training as needed).
  • Manage IT issues users report to the Help Desk
  • Configure and maintain software and network devices
  • Conduct server administration and updates
  • Infrastructure administration Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, 2FA and MFA, Antivirus, etc
  • Perform routine, IT-related website maintenance e.g. back-ups, plug-in updates
  • Setup and monitor Backup and Disaster recovery plans 

Specific Job Duties:

  • Manage administration of user accounts, including email, remote access, etc.
  • Assist in setting up and upgrading computer systems for end-users.
  • Evaluate equipment, components, and software for use in complex information technology systems and solutions environment, interface with vendors as necessary
  • Configure and maintain network devices, server hardware, operating systems, and associated services
  • Participate in developing plans, schedules, and requirements for the deployment and lifecycle of systems
  • Ensure security of network assets
  • Monitor IT systems for proper operation and working conditions
  • Ensure all IT systems are working efficiently and optimally
  • MS365 platform troubleshooting and maintenance
  • Develop design requirements and prototypes
  • Routine maintenance of organization websites
  • Interface with users to resolve service-related issues
  • Provide troubleshooting, design, develop, test, debug, install, implement, modify, and support new or existing applications software following area standard practices
  • Work with users to analyze their requirements
  • Maintain familiarity with installed software standards and procedures and provide technical guidance to other staff
  • Provide technical support of workstations and laptops and technical guidance for the assigned customer base
  • Facilitate user access to local and remote information technology resources
  • Implement security policies and protocols of the organization
  • Assist with user account administration, file rights management and backup/recovery policies and procedures
  • Research and assist with implementing emerging technologies
  • Assist in the development of appropriate technology solutions for information delivery and support environments
  • Support for implementing multimedia technology across a broad range of programs and initiatives
  • Other duties as required.
