"Full Circle" 4 Girls in Crisis - 2010 Ride for Refuge Team

On October 2nd, Ann Mainse, Melinda Estabrooks-Williams, Denise Lodde and Cheryl Weber will be joining the Ride for Refuge to raise money for girls in crisis.

We'll be riding our bikes in Waterloo, Ontario on October 2 for 10, 25, and maybe even 50 km! (We're not going to say who is doing what distance... but it will definitely be a time of laughter and pain, as some of us haven't been on a bike for years.)

So why are we doing it?
All of us on Full Circle have been deeply impacted by the stories we've heard over the years detailing how women suffer around the world. The obstacles they overcome to raise their families, the abuse inflicted on them because of their gender, the neglect they face when impacted by war or famine... it's brutal, especially when you consider that these are daughters and wives, sisters and grandmothers.

We're getting off the couch and onto our bikes!

We're so excited about the chance to make a difference in these girls' lives, but we can't do it alone. We need your help - our goal is to raise $50,000. Here's how you can join the Full Circle team in impacting girls halfway around the world:

* 60% of the money raised will help Crossroads Mission projects in Cambodia and Northern Uganda. A further 10% will go to Crossroads Missions if we raise more than $25,000. The remaining money raised will go to the continuing work of the Ride for Refuge, which supports hundreds of Christian churches and charities across Canada and around the world. All online donations will be receipted, as will cheque donations of $20 or more.

About "Full Circle"

100 Huntley Street  "Full Circle", is a live, open forum discussion program, that launched in early 2006, as a unique Friday edition of the popular 100 Huntley Street.

"Full Circle" features host Ann Mainse with regular participants Moira Brown and Melinda Williams discussing, debating and dialoguing on current news issues and matters of the heart, like how to keep marriages strong, effective parenting and coping with the past. The Friday format is strong on informality with the team perched on couches and sipping coffee. "When you get a bunch of women sitting around talking," says Ann Mainse, "you just get real. You start speaking from your heart."

"Getting real" is a big part of 100 Huntley Street  "Full Circle". The women represent different ages, experiences, ethnic backgrounds and church persuasions but the most important thing—is that Jesus is the foundation of their lives. Beyond that, the door is open for different opinions. "There’s no danger in disagreeing as long as we have the same foundation. It’s a good thing to speak openly," says Mainse. "And not just for women. Men shouldn’t reach for the remote when it comes on. There’s relevant content for the whole family."

Guests include visiting authors and professionals of interest to both men and women. Field reports will be aired from across Canada as 100 Huntley Street  "Full Circle" journalists travel the country looking for the stories that will grip viewers.

So spread the word…it’s time to take another look at what’s happening on 100 Huntley Street!
