Relief & Development is excited for the arrival of the Kyiv Symphony Orchestra and Choir!

Kyiv Symphony Orchestra

...and Choir

Please come and hear the beautiful music our friends from Ukraine are sharing with us once again. In 2014 the Orchestra and Choir toured Canada and we had the privilege of producing a beautiful music special called “Songs for Ukraine”. At that time, we raised support for the many families who had been displaced by the violent conflict that was rocking Ukraine. Sadly, it rages on two years later.

Close to 1.7 million people have had their lives in turmoil as a result of the ongoing violence that continues in the eastern regions. Families are still struggling for survival and have been forced to rely on the aid that is given through churches and organizations helping where they can. Our partner has been making deliveries of food and relief items, but with winter once again approaching they will need even more.

Let’s show them we still care.

The Kyiv Symphony Orchestra and Choir will be touring from Sept 14th – Oct 18th.

A Mother’s Cry

Approximately 800 women die each day due to complications during pregnancy and childbirth. 99% of these deaths occur in the developing world and most of them could have been prevented. Thanks to the Mother Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative, we can help moms have a safe and positive birthing experience. Our goal is to help improve maternal health in hospitals and clinics in parts of East Africa through a specialized training/education program. This program not only allows us to come alongside healthcare professionals, it also enables us to provide the necessary resources to improve some of the horrible conditions mothers give birth in. Replacing rusted beds and old torn mattresses are the obvious external solutions we know will help brighten the environment. However, the greatest need for mothers in Africa is just that people would care. Together, we can help save mothers and their babies.

More than 780 million people do not have access to clean water and more than 870 million people worldwide experience extreme hunger or malnourishment due to lack of resources. We are fighting world hunger and helping people access these essential, life-giving resources. Through sustainable initiatives, feeding, and agricultural programs, we have helped more than 100,000 people access clean water and helped thousands of families overcome food insecurity.
Millions of people around the world are vulnerable – living in situations of extreme poverty, beyond protection of the rule of law, orphaned, abused, displaced, or abandoned – making them prime targets for exploitation, including human trafficking. We are standing against injustice, helping those who are oppressed and marginalized through relief and development programs.
Access to health care and education are luxuries often not extended to the poor and, without access to these resources, it is hard to break the cycle of poverty. Millions of deaths in developing countries unnecessarily occur due to a lack of resources or access to medical care. Millions of children are deprived of a basic school education. We are supporting efforts to combat unnecessary deaths through programs that specifically target health issues in the developing world and empowering youth with the education, training, and skills necessary to enjoy a sustainable future.
