African Drought Relief

MATCHING FUNDS

We would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation for those who responded to our African Drought Relief efforts.  Thanks to the matching grants from the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) and a 4:1 matching grant for food, your donations were turned into 3.6 million worth of relief aid!  Praise God.

Crossroads Missions has responded with food distribution and will work with partners to continue relief aid in the coming months.  CIDA's matched funds will be used for their African Drought Relief fund.

Emergency Response & Development Fund

Since 1982, the Emergency Response & Development Fund of Crossroads Christian Communications Inc. has responded to death, destruction, and psychological trauma caused by natural disaster, war, and poverty in the developing countries of the world.

Our response to humanitarian crisis is both, short-term ‘emergency response’, and longer-term ‘development projects’. Our emergency response activities include: food & medical aid, earthquake & flood relief, and the rebuilding of homes. We also service a short-term need in developing countries by shipping quality, donated goods in containers.

"Let the Church Arise"

Japan – Earthquake/Tsunami Relief

Thank you to everyone who responded in compassion for our Japan Relief efforts.  Through the mobilization of the local churches relief items will be provided to people in need.

On March 11, 2011 a 9.0 magnitude earthquake and ensuring tsunami devastated the northeast coast of Japan. As the tsunami moved 6 miles inland, with it, buildings and infrastructure washed away. More than 8,000 people are confirmed dead and over 12,600 still missing, the heartbreak and loss is staggering. The earthquake and subsequent tsunami has damaged several nuclear power plants, wiped out entire villages and displaced hundreds of thousands of people.

Crossroads Missions is pleased to partner with other Christian organizations. These groups are mobilizing the local church, helping them to provide relief assistance through food, water, blankets, personal hygiene items etc. These church networks are going into the more remote areas filling in the gaps where the larger scale relief efforts do not reach as quickly.

Please help us come alongside our Japanese brothers and sisters in mobilizing and enabling the local churches. With your help, we give them the opportunity to show Christ’s love during this tragic and difficult time. Let the church rise up!

PAKISTAN FLOOD RELIEF

Thank you to everyone who has responded to the flood relief.  The government matching funding has now closed.

Crossroads Missions will continue to receive funds in support of our relief efforts for Pakistan.  Due to the extent of the damage and number of families affected, it will be a long slow recovery.

Since July 21st, 2010, widespread monsoon rains have hit most parts of north west Pakistan, causing sever flooding in Khyber Paktunkhwa, Balochistan, and Punjab Provinces. These are the worst floods in 80 years in Pakistan.

The statistics and reports coming in are staggering:
  • Over 20 million people affected
  • Over 1.8 million houses damaged or destroyed
  • one fifth of the country affected (62,000 square miles)
  • 2.6 million acres of crops inundated
  • estimated economic cost is over 6 billion

Working together with trusted crises response partners on the ground, Crossroads Missions would like to provide food kits for over 12,000 desperate families. These food kits will supply a family of 8 with enough food for a month with items such as: wheat flour, rice, cooking oil, sugar, tea etc.

Please join us in showing our brothers and sisters in Pakistan that Christians in Canada really do care through prayer and financial support.
